Avoid dropping JDBC connections in Weblogic due to Firewall

Hi All,

If you have faced any issues where your weblogic is dropping the connections due to Firewall timeout, There is very good option in Connection pool settings of the weblogic which will help you avoiding the connections from dropping off as Most of the firewall gets disconnected after 60 mins idle time.

Step 1:
Open Weblogic Console -> Services -> Data Source-> Click on Data source Name-> Connection Pool

Step 2:
Configure the the below parameters

Test-frequency-seconds property specifies the number of seconds between tests of unused connections. WebLogic Server tests unused connection and reopens any faulty connections. You must also set the Test Table Name. Set a non-zero value.

Seconds-to-trust-an-idle-pool-connection property specifies the number of seconds within a connection use that WebLogic Server trusts that the connection is still viable and will skip the connection test during the periodic connection testing process.

Note: If your application reserve pool connections and then hold them indefinitely without using them, Then in that case you can’t test/use connections while they are in application hands.
You have to wait till your application close them or if not then check enable the leak connection traces in JDBC logs

Thanks
R Vashi
